The Kingsley House
Categories: California House

After having to abandon our previous house buying attempt due to the DEA’s sudden interest in the property, Carrie and I turned our attention to a similar house just two blocks away.

Built in the 1920’s, it is a California Craftsman style with lots of woodwork and moldings, pocket doors, hardwood floors, and a stone front porch. It is in need of renovation, which will give us a chance to express our own talents and tastes.  It has a much larger yard than the Drug Lord house, which will give us plenty of room for both an herb and a vegetable garden.  It has a one bedroom one bath unit where the garage used to be, which will give us a place to live while we remodel the main house. After we move into the main house, this extra unit can become Carrie’s office and/or studio, or perhaps even a garage once again.  There is also a 600 sq’ building in the back yard that can be a workshop, gym, party room, or pool-house (if we put in a pool).

The part that I’ll never be allowed to forget is that while I was away on business, Carrie looked at the house, made an offer, and countered the seller’s counter offer.  We open escrow tomorrow.  Now that she has done all of the hard work, Carrie has agreed to let me pack and then unpack all of our stuff.
