Baker Lumber is “Third Generation Family Owned & Operated – Since 1938!” We learned of Baker through the Pomona Heritage group’s recent home restoration workshop.

Marshall Baker is the owner. On our first visit he cautioned us that he is closed Sundays, Mondays, all major holidays, and any time there is a significant motorcycle event such as the Gran Prix at Laguna Seca.

There is an original pencil drawing of Stevie Ray Vaughan on the wall and Marshall’s father’s ‘50’s vintage Ford Pickup is parked out back next to an equally vintage motorcycle.

Marshall is a Pomona native and has worked at Baker Lumber for 44 years. He is active in the Pomona Heritage group, having conducted a “Windows and Sliding Doors” class at the recent workshop, and is familiar with the issues and challenges of Pomona’s Craftsman homes.

So before you spend more at Home Depot or Lowes, and before you give up looking for that special size or shape board, give Baker Lumber a try. Just be sure to check the motorcycle race calendar before you go.
