{"id":1435,"date":"2021-09-16T08:38:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T15:38:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pauldearing.com\/?p=1435"},"modified":"2023-11-24T08:24:27","modified_gmt":"2023-11-24T16:24:27","slug":"canine-cools-couples-connection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pauldearing.com\/?p=1435","title":{"rendered":"Canine Cools Couple&#8217;s Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I lived in Redondo, about a mile from the beach I had a routine that lasted for years in which I would walk to and along the beach a couple of nights a week.<\/p>\n<p>This hike started as they usually did.\u00a0 I left the house at about 10:30PM and walked the most direct route west toward the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>But one block west of Pacific Coast Highway my routine was broken.<\/p>\n<p>It started with a guy in his parked car on the opposite side of the street warning me that there was a large scary aggressive dog loose nearby.\u00a0 Almost simultaneously I heard a woman yelling from the front porch of a house two doors ahead of me.\u00a0 At first I thought the dog was attacking her, but it quickly became apparent she was swearing at the guy in the car for abandoning her when he ran back to his car as the dog approached.<\/p>\n<p>I could see no dog.\u00a0 I walked to the house where the woman was perched on the porch railing, clinging to a post.\u00a0 I asked her if she was okay.\u00a0 She said yes she was okay, just scared, the dog did not bite her.\u00a0 Hanging on to the porch post, she explained that this wasn&#8217;t her house.\u00a0 She lived up the block.\u00a0 Her boyfriend (guy in the car) had come to pick her up.\u00a0 As they got to the sidewalk the dog charged them.\u00a0 Boyfriend ran to his car.\u00a0 Woman ran to the nearest house.\u00a0 Dog was who knew where.<\/p>\n<p>I walked her back to her house. She was swearing at the boyfriend most of the way.\u00a0 Boyfriend had nothing to say.<\/p>\n<p>I continued my walk.\u00a0 Here came the dog.\u00a0 One of the biggest German Shepherds\u00a0 I had ever seen.\u00a0 I stopped.\u00a0 The dog came up and sniffed me for about three seconds and continued past me.\u00a0 Other than its size, the dog was neither scary nor aggressive.<\/p>\n<p>I continued my walk.
